School Status - COVID-19

Addendum to CP Policy

The school is temporarily closed however childcare provision is continuing from Fatfield Academy who can be contacted on 0191 416 6728.

From 23/3/2020 until further notice the school will be closed to the majority of children. The school are making childcare provision for children of key workers and vulnerable children only.


The Government have stressed that every child who can be safely cared for at home should be and you can use the link below to review the Childcare Requirements section for further details.


Places will be limited, linked to our available staffing numbers each day. The ongoing availability of childcare will be assessed on a daily basis, subject to our capacity to staff the provision appropriately.


Please note that if we are unable to open at any point due to staffing absences/isolation, parents/carers will be notified as soon as possible.

Burnside Academy is proud to be a National Magic Breakfast Programme school. We offer every child in school the opportunity to enjoy a toasted breakfast bagel every morning during registration. This is in addition to our normal breakfast club provision which runs from 8am daily, children attending the breakfast club provision have the option of a toasted bagel, porridge, weetabix or multigrain cheerios.
